Navigation Guide
Interface Overview
The Bastion interface is designed for efficient navigation with a consistent layout across all modules.
Layout Structure
Header
The header contains:
- Command Menu - Quick search and navigation (
K) - Notifications - Alerts and updates
- User Menu - Profile and settings
Sidenav
The sidebar (220px wide) provides navigation to all modules. It is a permanent drawer on desktop and a collapsible drawer on tablet/mobile.

The sidebar also includes:
- A workspace selector at the top
- A search button that opens the Command Menu (
⌘K/Ctrl+K) - Invite teammates and referral actions at the bottom

Master these shortcuts to navigate quickly:

The Command Menu (K) is the fastest way to navigate. Start typing to search for pages, actions, or settings.
Command Menu
The Command Menu provides universal search across:
- Pages - Navigate to any page
- Actions - Quick actions (create, export, etc.)
- Settings - Configuration options
- Help - Documentation and support

Tables and Data Views
Most modules use consistent table patterns:
Table Features
- Search - Filter by text across columns
- Filters - Dropdown filters for specific fields
- Sorting - Click column headers to sort
- Pagination - Navigate through large datasets
- Bulk Actions - Select multiple rows for batch operations
URL State
Table state is preserved in the URL:
- Filters, search terms, and pagination are bookmarkable
- Share filtered views with team members
- Browser back/forward works with table state
Modals and Dialogs
Actions often open in modals:
- Create modals for new items
- Edit modals for modifications
- Detail modals for viewing information
- Confirmation dialogs for destructive actions

Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs appear at the top of pages showing your location:
Home > Compliance > Frameworks > SOC 2 Type II
Click any breadcrumb to navigate back.
Responsive Design
Bastion adapts to different screen sizes:
- Desktop - Full sidebar with labels
- Tablet - Collapsed sidebar with icons
- Mobile - Bottom navigation (limited features)
Some advanced features are only available on desktop. For the best experience, use Bastion on a desktop browser.
Dark Mode
Toggle dark mode from the user menu or system preferences. Both themes are fully supported throughout the application.
